The Helsinki Meeting Point is an organization with the main purpose to enrich and support the free improvisation scene in Helsinki and Finland. The HMP organises events featuring selected professionals engaged with improvisation as a performance art form. The performers meet for the first time a few hours before the show and create together an unique journey of sound, body and choreography. The flow of creativity, intuition and instant composition create a fresh, inspiring and entertaining performance.
The HMP has began in 2006. After being held for the first year at the UMO Jazz House and for the following five years at Kokoteatteri, the HMP has become itinerant, with pop-up events taking place in theatres, galleries, public libraries and book stores. In 2011, 2012 and 2014 the HMP Extended Edition, a two day long event with performances and public talks, was held in Tanssiteatteri Hurjaruuth.
The HMP is a production by Giorgio Convertito and Kaisa Kukkonen.
